In Heroes We Trust x Guy Webster Present 'Big Shots: Rock Legends and Hollywood Icons: The Photography of Guy Webster'

Please join us to celebrate our dear friend & neighbor Guy Webster's new book “Big Shots: Rock Legends and Hollywood Icons: The Photography of Guy Webster”.

One of the early innovators of rock & roll photography, renowned photographer Guy Webster has spanned the worlds of music, films & politics in a stellar 40-year career. He's shot album covers & billboards for musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, The Mamas and the Papas and The Doors & photographed film legends & luminaries such as Jack Nicholson, Dennis Hopper, Rita Hayworth, Dean Martin, Truman Capote, Ronald Reagan & Bill Clinton.

“There was no handbook to navigating the sixties,” admits Guy Webster. "It was a time of newfound creative freedom during which any guidebook, had there been one, would have quickly been discarded." Guy, Nikon in hand, bore witness to it all. An L.A. native, Guy's childhood stomping ground was the epicenter of a youthquake that not only shook up the music scene but also fashion, visual arts & pop culture. With his controversial cover shot on the Mamas and the Papas’ first album, Webster firmly established his reputation as a photographer capable not only of capturing the emotional nuance of the era, but also of helping to define it. In his definitive volume, their early creative worlds & intimate stories come alive on the page.

Guy is still shooting in his Venice Beach studio. Last month his work was presented in the The Rolling Stones’ 50th Year Anniversary Book, “It’s Just A Shot Away: The Rolling Stones in Photographs” curated by Benedikt Taschen. His iconic images share the pages with other luminous photographers such as David Bailey, Anton Corbijn & Terry Richardson.
